The 3-Day Team’s Favorite Memories of 2019

2019 is officially coming to a close…and what a year it was! You can re-live the magic through our photos from the walks, and by sharing your favorite memories with your 3-Day family throughout the holiday season. Our coaches, and the 3-Day team are here to get it started! Here are some of their favorite memories from the amazing 2019 3-Day Series.

Coach Amy

I loved working with my sweet team. I am grateful for these incredible luvbirds that bring so much light and love into my life. ? They remind me of the importance of joyful moments. I am also grateful for the conversations and crew members that bring so much meaning and inspiration to my life!

Erin from Susan G. Komen

I have so many wonderful memories of the 2019 3-Day series, but the one that stands out the most for me was the opportunity to participate in the Philadelphia 3-Day as a first-time walker! The moments of personal reflection, the high-fives and support received on the route and off, seeing the views of the city, the blisters I earned, the mac and cheese that I ate…it took my love and appreciation for this community to levels I couldn’t imagine! Plus, running the ‘Rocky’ stairs was SO. MUCH. FUN! It was affirmation that I am exactly where I am supposed to be!

Coach Liz

Some highlights of this year were having pink ice cream in Twin Cities, the amazing Closing Ceremony in Dallas/Fort Worth, and, on a personal note, taking a vacation in Panama with my husband.

Stephanie from Susan G. Komen

My favorite memory from 2019 is from the Opening Ceremony in San Diego. Harry, the gentleman who was raising the Promise Flag in memory of his wife Sheryl, was supposed to walk across the stage and down the stairs to raise the flag. When he was almost off stage he turned around and walked back to me. I was so surprised because this was not what he was supposed to do! I had no idea what was coming. He held out his hand and in it was a beautiful pink bracelet. He handed it to me and then proceeded across the stage to raise the flag.

At that moment, it wasn’t about the music, the cues, the ceremony or anything other than what was written on that bracelet: “Love life and live it every day!”

Coach Tisho

Looking around at the Closing Ceremony in New England and feeling so much pride and happiness at all we had accomplished to bring this amazing event back to Boston.

Coach Gayla

One of my favorite memories from 2019 is dancing and singing my brains out at the Finish Line Festival at Tostitos Championship Plaza at The Star in Frisco. I know I probably looked ridiculous, but after a year of planning this event, and having the end be so spectacular, I couldn’t contain myself!

Coach Kiki

I will never forget packing up slumber party tents in the Seattle rain with our amazing Super Crew member, Kirstin Black! What a time!

Coach Molly

I have so many amazing memories from this year, but I especially loved the new Honor Ceremony. I’ve been a part of the 3-Day since 2002 and it’s one of the most moving experiences I’ve witnessed on the event.

Plus, I loved watching Coach Jen dance with George Nummer in Michigan, cheering for Coach Tisho as she finished the Twin Cities 3-Day, anything that had to do with the Bingo Boyz and seeing Rene dancing in the rain in Philadelphia. We have a great team!

How to Make the Most of a Long Weekend

2-13 Insta

Who doesn’t love a long weekend? It gives you a whole extra day to get things done, plus you get a break from work. Memorial Day is first and foremost a holiday to honor the fallen servicemen and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Make sure to take time on Monday to honor them and all that they have done.

We encourage you to really make the most of this long weekend and spend some time on all of the things you need to do to get ready for the 3-Day. Turn this three-day weekend into a “3-Day Weekend!” Tackle your tasks one by one for your most productive weekend yet this year!

Friday: Educate

There is so much to learn about the 3-Day, the difference Susan G. Komen is making in the fight against breast cancer, and how you can prepare your mind and body for your 60-mile journey! After a long week, take some time to relax and read up on Friday night. Then you’ll be able to approach the rest of the weekend with a well-rested body and a mind full of all kinds of new information.

Saturday: Train and Teambuild

Saturday means it’s time to get busy! Schedule a training walk or other work out with your friends and teammates first thing in the morning. That will get you moving and grooving through your long weekend right off the bat! Then, use the afternoon to work on fundraising and teambuilding. We have some fun ideas for ways to take both your fundraising and teambuilding outside to really make the most of the weekend weather (hopefully filled with sunshine!).

Sunday: Get to Know Your Coaches

We love our coaches! From the amazing women who have been with us for years, to our new coaches in Seattle, Philadelphia and New England, they are here to be your biggest help on your 3-Day journey. If you haven’t already connected with them on social media, Sunday is the perfect day to do so!

Did you know they all have their own Facebook pages? You can check them out here:

These pages are a super easy way to contact your coaches, find out about local training walks and events and learn more about registration discounts and rewards. Plus, it will show them some love to have you follow them as part of the 3-Day family.

Monday: Relax and Reward

You made it to Monday, and you don’t even have to work! Congrats! That means it’s time to kick those 60-mile feet back and give yourself a rest. Prepare for the week ahead, acknowledge all that you have done over the weekend, and don’t forget to honor any servicemen and women in your life. Tuesday will be a new day, and you’re going to be prepared to take it by storm!

What are your plans for the long weekend? Tell us in the comments!

New Year’s Resolutions: Your 3-Day Coaches’ 2019 Goals

gina

Happy 2019! As we start this New Year, it’s the perfect time to set your goals and plans for 2019. Whether yours are personal or professional, for this month or more long-term, setting goals help you make the most of your year. If you haven’t yet, it’s also the perfect time to commit to 60-miles and join our 3-Day family!

In the meantime, take inspiration from your 3-Day coaches as you set your own 2019 resolutions…

Coach Gina

One of my goals for 2019 is to slow down, breathe more and keep practicing self-care. I want to make sure the moments don’t slip by, as the small moments (like the ones with my family!) can end up being the most important ones.

Coach Kiki

But I try to create new habits/actions/behaviors throughout the year. This year, I’m hoping to incorporate yoga and meditation into my weekly health routine. I also plan to hydrate more often when on-event, as well as remember to reapply sunscreen (see above)!

Coach Staci

I’m going to start running again! And I have an epic trip to Alaska planned for 2019! We’ll do DeNali National Park and other day trips out of Anchorage followed by a 7-day cruise down the coast to Vancouver.

For the 3-Day, I want to make 2019 San Diego 3-Day even bigger and better than ever! I hope to help more walkers and crew experience the life-changing journey and leave their mark on the world!

Seattle 2015 walking with friends

Coach Gayla

Since I’m registered to walk the New England 3-Day in 2019, my resolution is to attend a different training walk every week. I challenge every Texas training walk leader to surprise me with creative areas because I’m willing to travel. Be on the lookout for the training walks I will post, too!

Coach Heather

2018 was a year of MAJOR life changes for me. In 2019, I am hoping to focus on “me,” as selfish as that can sound. Self-care is important, and in order for 2019.

Coach Tisho

For 2019 my chosen word is “focus.” It’s going to be an exciting year with our New England event coming back and more awesome changes ahead, so I want to really be able to focus on the moment I’m in and not get too caught up in all the other moving parts of life.

Coach Stephanie

I’m hoping to get out and volunteer more!

Coach Jennifer

I want to help more people LOVE their experience on the 3-Day journey and raise as much money as we can in the fight to end breast cancer.

Personally, I’d like to learn to play my guitar like Sheryl Crow and grow more yummy things in my garden 🙂

Coach Amy

For 2019, a quote that will inspire me to keep sprinkling my love is:

“Breathe love.

Be Love.

Give Love.

Do Love.”
