For International Women’s Day: Meet the Incredible Women of Your 3-Day Coaching Team

This weekend marks International Women’s Day, and we are so proud to have many amazing women working hard for all of you on the 3-Day. They work together as a team all year long to make sure you are supported and loved through every step of your 3-Day journey, from the moment you register to the moment you finish those 60 miles — and beyond.

Now, they are supporting and loving each other as well! We asked our 3-Day team to share what they love about each other, and their group of working women as a whole. Here’s what they had to say…

Coach Staci

I am incredibly lucky to work with a group of highly engaged, passionate women who are smart, strategic and most importantly, have an awesome sense of humor! We work hard, we work smart and we work with love in our hearts.

Coach Amy

I have so much love for my sweet Crew and Volunteer Operations girls (Robin & Kiki) and my local San Diego team (Staci & Meredith)! This quote makes me think of them:

“In life, you will realize there is a role for everyone you meet. Some will test you; some will use you; some will love you; some will teach you. But the ones who are truly important are the ones who bring out the best in you. They are the rare and amazing people who remind you why it’s worth it.”

SO true of my sweet little team. They make me better.

Coach Molly

Each woman who works on the 3-Day is committed to always doing their best and giving their all. It has been such an incredible honor to lead and work alongside this incredible group of women who work tirelessly to give our participants the very best of themselves and the very best event experience each year. The day in and day out of this job is made so much better because of who I get to do it with!

Coach Tisho

They all just rock! Heather’s energy is limitless, Gayla’s passion is unmatched, Liz’s knowledge is astounding, Staci’s patience is incredible, and Molly’s ability to keep us all organized and motivated is phenomenal. It’s truly a Dream Team!

Coach Gayla

Working with the women of the 3-Day is the best thing ever! I especially like our Wednesday team calls when Molly asks the “SFQs” — Super Fun Questions – at the beginning of the meeting. It’s a great intro and always makes me laugh…A LOT! It’s also a great way to get to know each other a little better, even though we’ve worked together for many years.

Examples of funny SFQs are:

  • Do you sleep with a top sheet or no?
  • Would you rather always say everything on your mind or never speak again?

What the 3-Day Team Loves MOST

3DAY_2017_SEA_MDER_1153

Valentine’s Day is here! That means it is a time of love and appreciation and happiness…and that doesn’t have to be only about romance. We feel SO much love throughout the year from 3-Day friends and family. That love is based in support and shared commitment, teamwork and inspiration, much of which is gained during our 60-mile journey over our 3-Day weekends throughout the year.

There is plenty of love thrown around during our time together on the 3-Day. To give you a little taste of that love during this chilly winter season, our 3-Day team is sharing what they love most about the 3-Day…and all of you!

Coach Tisho

I love the community. I have participated in a lot of other events and walks over the years and there’s no other community like ours. We call the 3-Day a FAMILY for a reason!

Coach Molly

Hands down what I love most about the 3-Day is the people who make up our amazing community. From walkers to crew to volunteers to the staff, vendors, partners, and even the strangers who come out and cheer along the route. We are so fortunate to be surrounded by so many people who are working to make the world a better place.

Stephanie from Susan G. Komen

The thing I love most about the 3-Day is that feeling you get on Sunday after the Closing Ceremony. It’s like graduation! You get to see everyone with their old and new friends, family and loved ones. It’s fun to see everyone so rightfully proud of what they’ve done.

Coach Gayla

I love the moments before the Opening Ceremony when people start arriving and they’re reuniting for the first time since last year’s 3-Day. There’s so much excitement!

Coach Amy

The 3-Day is a 60-mile-long journey, but it is also a journey of the heart. Filled with love, kindness and pure magic. On the 3-Day, you are overwhelmed and empowered in the most positive ways imaginable. You experience something that defies explanation. You are challenged, inspired, pushed harder and appreciated more than you have before. It is a magical thing and I wish I could bottle up this love and sprinkle it all year long!

Coach Staci

What do I love most about the 3-Day? It’s simple: The people!

The participants, my co-workers — we are all working together to make the world a better place.

Coach Heather

I just love how I feel when I’m at the 3-Day! The energy, love, support, compassion, sense of family…it really takes me to another level mentally! It’s a good place to spend three days!

Happy Valentine’s Day from our 3-Day team to you and your family! We hope your day is full of warmth, kindness and everything you love.

The 3-Day Team’s Favorite Memories of 2019

2019 is officially coming to a close…and what a year it was! You can re-live the magic through our photos from the walks, and by sharing your favorite memories with your 3-Day family throughout the holiday season. Our coaches, and the 3-Day team are here to get it started! Here are some of their favorite memories from the amazing 2019 3-Day Series.

Coach Amy

I loved working with my sweet team. I am grateful for these incredible luvbirds that bring so much light and love into my life. ? They remind me of the importance of joyful moments. I am also grateful for the conversations and crew members that bring so much meaning and inspiration to my life!

Erin from Susan G. Komen

I have so many wonderful memories of the 2019 3-Day series, but the one that stands out the most for me was the opportunity to participate in the Philadelphia 3-Day as a first-time walker! The moments of personal reflection, the high-fives and support received on the route and off, seeing the views of the city, the blisters I earned, the mac and cheese that I ate…it took my love and appreciation for this community to levels I couldn’t imagine! Plus, running the ‘Rocky’ stairs was SO. MUCH. FUN! It was affirmation that I am exactly where I am supposed to be!

Coach Liz

Some highlights of this year were having pink ice cream in Twin Cities, the amazing Closing Ceremony in Dallas/Fort Worth, and, on a personal note, taking a vacation in Panama with my husband.

Stephanie from Susan G. Komen

My favorite memory from 2019 is from the Opening Ceremony in San Diego. Harry, the gentleman who was raising the Promise Flag in memory of his wife Sheryl, was supposed to walk across the stage and down the stairs to raise the flag. When he was almost off stage he turned around and walked back to me. I was so surprised because this was not what he was supposed to do! I had no idea what was coming. He held out his hand and in it was a beautiful pink bracelet. He handed it to me and then proceeded across the stage to raise the flag.

At that moment, it wasn’t about the music, the cues, the ceremony or anything other than what was written on that bracelet: “Love life and live it every day!”

Coach Tisho

Looking around at the Closing Ceremony in New England and feeling so much pride and happiness at all we had accomplished to bring this amazing event back to Boston.

Coach Gayla

One of my favorite memories from 2019 is dancing and singing my brains out at the Finish Line Festival at Tostitos Championship Plaza at The Star in Frisco. I know I probably looked ridiculous, but after a year of planning this event, and having the end be so spectacular, I couldn’t contain myself!

Coach Kiki

I will never forget packing up slumber party tents in the Seattle rain with our amazing Super Crew member, Kirstin Black! What a time!

Coach Molly

I have so many amazing memories from this year, but I especially loved the new Honor Ceremony. I’ve been a part of the 3-Day since 2002 and it’s one of the most moving experiences I’ve witnessed on the event.

Plus, I loved watching Coach Jen dance with George Nummer in Michigan, cheering for Coach Tisho as she finished the Twin Cities 3-Day, anything that had to do with the Bingo Boyz and seeing Rene dancing in the rain in Philadelphia. We have a great team!
