What Your 3-Day Coaches are Thankful For in 2019

Happy Thanksgiving! We hope you are all celebrating by surrounding yourself with love and fun! There is so much to be grateful for this year; from all of our amazing participants to our beautiful host cities to the phenomenal amount of money we raised in the fight against breast cancer.

And though many of us are spending the day relaxing with family and good food, we wanted to make sure to throw some love your way! Our 3-Day coaches, from New England to San Diego, are thankful for each and every one of you. But they’re also thankful for travel, their families, each other and more! Here are a few of our coaches’ favorite things this Thanksgiving….

Coach Gayla with her daughter

Coach Gayla

I’m grateful for the hard working and super kind crew members that make this event so special for everyone.

I’m also grateful for the supporters who come out to the 3-Day in each city.

Lastly, I’m grateful for my family and how they love and support me and my passion doing the job that I love, and for my work family who I’m incredibly blessed to work alongside and share so many cool experiences with.

Coach Tisho

I’m so thankful for the ability to embrace healthy habits that I’d previously neglected. For the opportunity to travel and experience new things. And for coffee. Alllll the coffee!

Coach Molly

The opportunity to do meaningful work.

To be inspired by participants who display kindness and compassion and motivate me with their unwavering support and commitment to the causes they believe in.

To work alongside the most hardworking, loyal and FUN co-workers who make the good days and challenging moments more than worth it.

Coach Heather

I’m grateful that my Mom is doing absolutely wonderful despite her breast cancer diagnosis early in 2019!

I’m grateful that I chose ME! I’ve embraced life with the “go with the flow” attitude. And it’s been pretty awesome!

I’m so glad that I had the opportunity to be on-event with nearly every 3-Day staff member this season! The combination of various strengths, skills, and personalities from event to event allowed for a great season for me!

Coach Staci

My health, my amazing family and friends (which includes my co-workers because I’m just lucky that way!). I’m also grateful for a continued sense of wanderlust that keeps me energized and keeps my mind reeling, wondering, “What else is there to see?”

We are so thankful for our 3-Day coaches for all their hard work, on our 3-Days and all year long.

We are also thankful for all of you for your continued dedication and support of the 3-Day and the fight against breast cancer. We are honored to continue this fight alongside you.

We hope you are enjoying this day of thanks and love ?

Meet Your Twin Cities 3-Day Coaches

It’s hard to believe it, but we’re only days away from our Twin Cities 3-Day! We can’t wait to take this 60-mile journey with all our Minnesota 3-Dayers, and no one is more excited than our 3-Day coaches. As our team makes the final preparations and plans for the 60-mile journey, we thought it was about time that you all get to know our Twin Cities 3-Day coaching team.

Meet Coaches Liz and Heather, our amazing Crew Coordinator Kiki and Event Manager Eileen. They make the 3-Day magic happen year-round, working every day towards this weekend. That means that they spend a lot of time together, and they love it that way. They are each other’s biggest cheerleaders, just like they cheer for you!

  • Liz is the definition of “excellent customer service” and Kiki considers her to be “my Webster’s Dictionary of the 3-Day!” She knows everything and can be your one-stop shop for any questions or needs you have leading up to, and during, the weekend.
  • Kiki is the Crew and coaching team’s best resource — funny and quick-witted and she knows all the right ways to support her Crew.
  • Eileen planned your amazing 3-Day route, and Liz says she “is the master at getting things done.” And, according to Liz, she has a wicked dry sense of humor! Maybe she has some 3-Day puns to share ?
  • Last but certainly not least, Coach Heather is a new addition to the Twin Cities team, and her fellow coaches describe her as “so full of energy, when she is laughing you cannot help but join in and you can always depend on her for a really fun time.” We can’t wait to see her smiling face out on the route!

Eileen has already given us a preview of just what that route will look like, and some of her favorite spots are:

  • Nicollet Mall where our Opening Ceremony will take place, inside the Hyatt Regency
  • The Nicollet Mall art fest
  • Lake Minnehaha Boulevard
  • Minnehaha Regional Park and Minnehaha Falls
  • White Bear Lake and the surrounding community
  • Stone Arch Bridge

But that’s not all the walkers and crew members can look forward to!

Heather promises “an incredible weekend full of inspiration, laughter, tears, amazing memories, countless hugs, and endless high fives!”

Kiki added, given that this walk takes place in Minnesota, out-of-towners and locals alike will experience everything that the state is known for: “beautiful scenery and the nicest people on the planet.”

To get you ready for all of that, our coaches also have advice to help you in the final days before you begin your journey.

  • Coach Kiki encourages everyone to work together. “Ask for help when you need it and offer it when you think it’s needed by others.”
  • Coach Heather reminds everyone to be in the moment! “Yes, there are many photo opportunities, but don’t miss “being in it” just to see it in pictures later. Be present! Remember, there are so many pictures being taken by those around you, the moment will surely be captured by someone!”
  • Coach Liz echoes that and adds to “be sure to drink more than you think you need, both water and sports drink. There is no rush; you have all day, so enjoy every moment.”

That includes enjoying time at our new hotel camp! Liz says some highlights to especially look forward to are “a great community feel as we gather in one banquet room, a nice comfy bed at the end of the day, and a bathtub!”

What more could you want? How about quality time with these amazing ladies, and all of your 3-Day family? ? In just a few days, we’ll all be together in the Pink Bubble…We’ll see you soon!

Meet Your Michigan 3-Day Coaches

Hey Michigan—are you ready? With just one week to go until our first 3-Day of 2019, we’re preparing to give you the best 3-Day experience, which will be led by your amazing Michigan 3-Day coaching team. Get to know these rock star women who will be guiding your sixty miles of greatness!

First, meet your newest Michigan guide, Coach Jen! Fellow Coach Gina describes her as kind, patient and says that “her passion for the 3-Day shines as she works with the participants.”

Coach Heather echoes that sentiment and “can’t wait for Jen to see how amazing the Michigan 3-Day community is!”

Coaches Heather and Gina know the fantastic Midwestern community well, and you might remember them from last year ?. Gina says that Heather is the “heart of this 3-Day. She gives 1000% to make sure our walkers are supported, loved and successful in their 3-Day journey.”

But we can’t forget Coach Gina herself! Coach Jen says Gina has been a wonderful guide for her first Michigan 3-Day.

“With so much experience on the Michigan 3-Day, Gina fills our crew members with knowledge, embodies the kindness that she asks of them and just puts a smile on everyone’s face.”

These are your coaches for the 3-Day weekend in Michigan, and they can’t wait to welcome you with the same love and support they have been sharing with each other (and all of you) for the last year.

But what can you expect from the Michigan 3-Day?

Lots of fun new updates, including a hotel campsite.

Coach Gina is especially excited for the hotel camp, saying, “Change can be exciting, and I look forward to seeing how our new ‘campsite’ adds to the already amazing spirit of the Michigan 3-Day!”

The hotel camp has LOTS to look forward to, including:

  • A comfy bed with fluffy pillows
  • Air conditioning (key with the Michigan summer heat!)
  • A LONG hot shower
  • A bit of night-time TV viewing (recommended by Coach Jen for relaxation!)

But those aren’t the only things that Michigan walkers will love. There are a few spots that Coach Jen wants everyone to keep an eye out for on the route too…

  • On Day 1, I look forward to walking by the Novi Senior Center where all the residents came out last year to cheer on our walkers. Everyone had so much fun! We’re expecting the same this year.
  • On Day 2, my favorite spot has got to be the Plymouth Town Square, where there will be a little extra pink in honor of our 3-Day walkers. All of the Saturday morning hustle bustle around Kellogg Park always makes Coach Heather smile, too.
  • Coach Heather also loves the awesome residents who come on out to North York Street on Day 3, and really “bring it!”
  • On the last day, Coach Jen looks forward to walking into Closing Ceremony at Ford World Headquarters. It will be pretty special this year because we will celebrate not only our accomplishments on the 2019 Michigan 3-Day, but all the success we’ve had over the years fundraising and generating awareness in the fight to end breast cancer!

These coaches know better than anyone how much work all our 3-Day participants put into the Michigan weekend, and they can’t wait to celebrate all your achievements.

Coach Gina says it perfectly.

“After 15 years and countless events, my 3-Day ‘why’ became much more personal over the past couple years and has renewed my energy in this fight. My own breast cancer battle brought surgeries, chemo, radiation, and my life is forever changed.

I am blessed because I had my 3-Day community by my side, and they lifted me up when I needed it most and got me to THIS moment. The 3-Day to me is a family; a family bound together by their passion, enthusiasm and drive to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.”

Your Michigan coaches count each other, and all of you, as part of their 3-Day family. And they are so hopeful that you will enjoy and make the most of this weekend.

If you need some last minute 3-Day tips, they have you covered there too.

  • Coach Heather says to drink LOTS of water…but also make sure to appreciate every moment with your friends and 3-Day family throughout the weekend.
  • Coach Jen says that if you haven’t yet met Michigan 3-Day walker George Nummer, this weekend is your perfect chance! She encourages participants to introduce themselves and spend a few minutes talking with him on event! He is such an inspiration and will participate in all seven 3-Day events this year.
  • Coach Gina brings it home again, reminding everyone to “Savor the moments. Every step, each interaction. As the saying goes, ‘It’s the little moments that make life big.’”

Here’s to a BIG weekend in Michigan with our 3-Day family! The coaches can’t wait for you…Let’s go
