Join us on Tuesday, February 24 at 5:00 p.m. PST (7:00 p.m. CT, 8:00 p.m. EST) for our first-ever Facebook Meet-Up! We’ll be chatting about how you can use the Susan G. Komen 3-Day® website to get you started on your fundraising and training, and how to stay motivated on your Komen 3-Day journey.

How does the 3-Day® Facebook meet-up work? On Tuesday the 24th, around 4:50 p.m., we’ll post a status update on our Facebook page that says something like this:

“Welcome to the 3-Day Facebook Meet-Up! We’ll be answering your questions and sharing tips, tricks and information in this status update in just a couple of minutes. Reply directly in the comments, and don’t forget to reply and chat with everyone else who joins!”

Your 3-Day social media virtuosos, Alyssa and Erin, will be asking questions and commenting back and forth with you as “The 3-Day.” Now what fun is it if nobody chats, right? Be sure to jump in and introduce yourself to other commenters and ask and answer questions, too. You may have to occasionally refresh the Facebook page to see the most recent comments, questions, and replies.

We’ll chat for an hour, and hope you’ll join us! Any questions? Let us know!

3-Day Blog Throwback – The Insider’s Guide

Hi there readers!

Erin D. here. In addition to being the 3-Day’s head blogger, social media mover and shaker, and occasional event staffer, I’m also a 15-time veteran walker.

Alysssa, Jenn and me – the 3-Day social media team in action!

A year ago, we ran a series of posts on the 3-Day blog called the “Insider’s Guide to the 3-Day.” The posts were written by yours truly, as a way to share my experiences on the 3-Day, from Opening to Closing. The series was meant to serve as a way for people to get a look at various aspects of the event from the perspective of someone who has been there many times.

If you didn’t get a chance to see the Insider’s Guide series, particularly if you’re new to the 3-Day, we encourage you to click back through the posts.

I’m just one Insider, and I know that every single walker, crew member, volunteer and supporter experiences the 3-Day in a different way. We love hearing about your experiences and memories, so share them in comments or post them to the 3-Day’s Facebook page, tweet them @The3Day or tag #The3Day in your Instagrams!

Cheers,

Erin

Join us on 1/29 for the first 3-Day Tweet Chat of 2015

Can you believe it’s already 2015? Join us for the first Susan G. Komen 3-Day® tweet chat of 2015 on Thursday, January 29 at 5:00 p.m. PDT (7:00 p.m. CT, and 8:00 p.m. EST). We’ll be talking about making a new commitment to the Komen 3-Day in 2015, and hearing all about your 2014 3-Day experiences. (If you’re new to the 3-Day – welcome! We’ll also share some of our favorite fundraising tips.)

Never done a Tweet Chat before? That’s okay! Some people call them Twitter Parties or Twitter Meet-Ups, but whatever the name, it works like this:

  1. Sign on to Twitter at 5:00 p.m. PDT (or a few minutes before).
  2. Make sure you’re following @The3Day on Twitter.
  3. On Twitter, search for #The3Day, which is the official hashtag we will use for this Tweet Chat.
  4. You can also use the website TweetChat.com. Sign in, enter the hashtag #The3Day, and you’ll be able to watch and tweet in real-time with us.
  5. We’ll ask some questions to get things started, and we will also share tips and tricks from 3-Day veterans and coaches. This will be a great way to meet your fellow 3-Day participants and ask questions. Our 3-Day Social Media Team, Alyssa and Erin, can’t wait to tweet with you!

Not on Twitter yet? Here are a few quick tips to get you started:

  • It’s free and easy to join at Twitter.com.
  • Go to twitter.com/the3day and click “Follow” to make sure our messages show up in your feed.
  • A hashtag is a way to “file” tweets and collect them under a certain topic, so you’ll be able to see everything everyone is tweeting under this hashtag. Just search for #the3day in Twitter and you’ll be able to see everyone’s messages about the 3-Day, not just ours.
  • When writing your own messages, keep in mind that tweets can only be 140 characters at a time, so it’s best to keep things short n’ sweet.

If you can’t make this Tweet Chat, you can always search #The3Day on Twitter to see all of the tweets that came from this Tweet Chat. Do you have any questions? Ask here, and remember, the 3-Day coaches are only a phone call away at 800-996-3DAY!
