New Year’s Resolutions from the 3-Day Team

As we kick off this new year, and the new decade, there is no time like the present to set your goals and plans for 2020. Whether yours are personal or professional, for this month or more long-term, setting goals help you make the most of your year. If you haven’t yet, it’s also the perfect time to commit 3 days and join our 3-Day family!

Take inspiration from your 3-Day coaches and team as you set your own 2020 resolutions.

Coach Liz

I am starting early, so it’s not really a traditional New Year’s Resolution, but I am going to get back into shape and start working out every day. Wish me luck!

Coach Molly

I will do my part to help spread the pink bubble cheer all year long! I also want to write once a day, either on my blog, in my journal or a letter/card/postcard!

Stephanie from Susan G. Komen

While I don’t make official resolutions, I DO want to make some changes, so I’m going to start small. I will be focusing on one small thing I can change that will make a difference. The first thing I’m going to do is start getting up 30 minutes earlier. This will give me time to plan my day, work out and have breakfast without feeling rushed to jump on the computer and start working! Who is joining me?

Coach Gayla

My 2020 New Year’s Resolution is to utilize my Fitbit and all of its amazing tools, like tracking exercise, steps, water and calorie intake. Here’s to accountability in the biggest way!

Coach Tisho

I want to spend more time riding my new bike. Her name is Ladybug! She’s my first real bike (unless you count the one that I got when I was 9 but that was over 35 years ago! )

Coach Amy

My 2020 resolution is simple: To shine bright.

It’s inspired by this quote that I love…

“A good life is a not a place at which you arrive, it is a lens through which you see and create the world.” — Jonathan Fields

Coach Heather

I will be taking my “I Choose ME” campaign one step further and buying a new home!

Erin from Susan G. Komen

I am going to drink more water and give up soda!

New Year’s Resolutions: Your 3-Day Coaches’ 2019 Goals

gina

Happy 2019! As we start this New Year, it’s the perfect time to set your goals and plans for 2019. Whether yours are personal or professional, for this month or more long-term, setting goals help you make the most of your year. If you haven’t yet, it’s also the perfect time to commit to 60-miles and join our 3-Day family!

In the meantime, take inspiration from your 3-Day coaches as you set your own 2019 resolutions…

Coach Gina

One of my goals for 2019 is to slow down, breathe more and keep practicing self-care. I want to make sure the moments don’t slip by, as the small moments (like the ones with my family!) can end up being the most important ones.

sunburn

Coach Kiki

But I try to create new habits/actions/behaviors throughout the year. This year, I’m hoping to incorporate yoga and meditation into my weekly health routine. I also plan to hydrate more often when on-event, as well as remember to reapply sunscreen (see above)!

Coach Staci

I’m going to start running again! And I have an epic trip to Alaska planned for 2019! We’ll do DeNali National Park and other day trips out of Anchorage followed by a 7-day cruise down the coast to Vancouver.

For the 3-Day, I want to make 2019 San Diego 3-Day even bigger and better than ever! I hope to help more walkers and crew experience the life-changing journey and leave their mark on the world!

Seattle 2015 walking with friends

Coach Gayla

Since I’m registered to walk the New England 3-Day in 2019, my resolution is to attend a different training walk every week. I challenge every Texas training walk leader to surprise me with creative areas because I’m willing to travel. Be on the lookout for the training walks I will post, too!

Coach Heather

2018 was a year of MAJOR life changes for me. In 2019, I am hoping to focus on “me,” as selfish as that can sound. Self-care is important, and in order for 2019.

Coach Tisho

For 2019 my chosen word is “focus.” It’s going to be an exciting year with our New England event coming back and more awesome changes ahead, so I want to really be able to focus on the moment I’m in and not get too caught up in all the other moving parts of life.

Coach Stephanie

I’m hoping to get out and volunteer more!

Coach Jennifer

I want to help more people LOVE their experience on the 3-Day journey and raise as much money as we can in the fight to end breast cancer.

Personally, I’d like to learn to play my guitar like Sheryl Crow and grow more yummy things in my garden 🙂

Coach Amy

For 2019, a quote that will inspire me to keep sprinkling my love is:

“Breathe love.

Be Love.

Give Love.

Do Love.”

How will you spread love in 2019? What else are you committing to for 2019? Tell us in the comments! Then, commit to joining us on this amazing 60-mile journey in 2019. We can’t wait to have you in our 3-Day family!

Coaches’ Corner: New Year’s Resolution Check-In

January is over, and we are one month into the New Year. How are your New Year’s Resolutions coming along? Sometimes it takes a few tries for a new habit to stick, or to reach a big goal, but that’s okay! Trying is important too, and when you can check a resolution off your list, you’ll feel even prouder if it’s something you really worked for.

We asked some of our coaches what they wanted to accomplish this year, and how they are putting in the work. Read below to see what some of them want to accomplish in 2018… and give them some encouragement! Then, add your own resolutions below in the comments…

I would like to dive into the book series “Me Before You,” “Me After You” and “Still Me.”

I do enjoy reading but sadly I have let life get in the way. I need to take more time to “unplug” and unwind with a good book even if it’s just a few pages a night!

Amy Schwager — Crew and Volunteer Coordinator, San Diego (at right)

Our team each decided to choose one word to guide us this year, personally or professional.

I cheated a little, and chose two: “Love Better.”

If I love better, then my marriage, my children, family, friendships, crew program, community, body, mind, and spirit will all benefit and be better.

Live more purposefully!

I have focused on trying to make choices and plan ahead to accomplish the things I know I want in life.

Mine is to take better care of myself — physically and mentally.

I’m knocking the physical part out of the park! I’m loving going to the gym 3 to 4 times a week, but I’m still working on the mental part.

I used to read ALL the time. Then Facebook on my phone happened. A few months ago, I realized that I’m spending my time in the evening scrolling through Facebook instead of reading books. As a result, reading has become almost non-existent in my life, which makes me sad because it’s one of my most favorite things to do.

So, this year I have resolved to read more. One book down so far for this new year, hoping that many more are to follow!
