Celebrating the Final Chapter of the Denver 3-Day

2025 Denver 3-Day

Kicking off the 2025 event season, the Pink Bubble said goodbye to Denver Aug. 1-3! Courageous participants walked amongst the mountains in the Mile High City and nearby Boulder to complete 60, 40 or 20 miles over the course of three days. Together, 610 walkers and crew raised nearly $1.3 million for breast cancer research, community health, patient care and advocacy.

Day 1

The Susan G. Komen Denver 3-Day® began with announcements and a touching Opening Ceremony, an opportunity for walkers and crew to gather for the first time before setting out on the route. The spirit of the Pink Bubble radiated as the room filled with excited participants ready to embark on Day 1 of the 3-Day. Event co-host Lori Maris began by recognizing national series sponsors Mohawk Flooring, Ready and XPO, as well as longtime national presenting sponsor Bank of America, and reminded walkers of the rules of the road.

She also introduced the 3-Day’s new RFID technology, which means no more scanning of credentials when you start or finish your walk. This change means increased safety with better visibility of where walkers are throughout each day, and no more stopping and scanning, including at the start or finish lines! The ceremony rounded out with speakers sharing their reasons for walking; Carla V. for her sister Trina, who is living with metastatic breast cancer, and Jacki P. as a 29-year survivor. Following their heartfelt stories, the room filled with emotion as we welcomed Carol P. to raise the Promise Flag in honor of those who we’ve lost to breast cancer.

The weather was even more lovely than expected, with sunshine and comfortable temperatures all along the route. The end of the day brought the Celebration of Champions, sponsored by Bank of America, honoring top fundraisers and teams, and introducing the 2025 3-Day dance. Raffle prizes were also provided by Bank of America to lucky winners in attendance.

New for 2025 were participant superlative awards chosen by the 3-Day Advisory Council, veteran 3-Day walkers and crew members who, in addition to raising money and walking 60 miles, also volunteer to serve this group, working closely with Komen all year long to help steward this special community.

Coach Susan presented the Milestone Award to 22-year participant Sue T., who has raised over $165,000 across the incredible 61 events she has walked.

The Crew Impact award went to Mary M., who celebrated her 30th 3-Day with us. She was honored with remarks by her sister, Janet.

Finally, Komen’s senior vice president of mission Victoria Smart and research grants manager Dr. Andrea Casillas introduced ShareForCures, a breakthrough initiative by which more than a thousand survivors are helping to fuel breakthrough research.

Day 2

This sunny day began with 2-Day Walkers checking in and everyone hopping aboard a 3-Day bus to Boulder for a scenic route through the Rocky Mountains. The buses rolled into the beautiful East Boulder Park where walkers were greeted by porta-potties and a hydration station to ensure they began their day on the right foot. With mountains in every direction, no matter where the route took them, walkers were in for a stunning view!

As they continued, they met with a variety of delicious snacks provided by Ready at Pit 1, and the Memorial Mile next to a community garden, which served as a peaceful moment of reflection for those who have lost their lives while celebrating the growing life in the surrounding fields.

After honoring the Memorial Mile, they were soon welcomed to a delicious lunch at the halfway point of their 60-mile journey! From here they continued through the hilly streets of Boulder until nearby lightning caused a precautionary evacuation of the route for everyone’s safety—thank you for your patience while everyone was bused back from Boulder!

After returning to camp and enjoying Bank of America’s Main Street with massage chairs and ShopKomen merchandise, walkers ate dinner together before the evening Honor Ceremony.

The ceremony began with the 2025 Denver Youth Corps, who raised $8,930 ahead of the event. Youth Corps kicked things off by sharing who inspires them to participate in the 3-Day and were followed by speakers Amy C. and Dana C., who shared their stories and honored their “why.” As they stepped off the stage, the 3-Day community lit candles in tribute to the friends and family who continue to inspire their participation. After sharing many hugs and tears, walkers and crew called it a night and rested up for their final day of the Denver 3-Day.

Day 3

Sunday began by welcoming our 1-Day Walkers into the Pink Bubble before all walkers made their way out on the route, ready for the final day in the Mile High City! Walkers enjoyed sunshine and scenic views all day long as they passed through RiNo Arts District, over South Platte River, and ventured into Edgewater.

With the Colorado sun radiating strongly, walkers were offered hydration and food at pit stops, grab-and-go lunches, where they had the chance to take a cute photo in front of the flower wall. After resting their feet, walkers continued their journey as our friends from XPO cheered them on and offered snacks, candy, water, and sports drinks to give the extra push through their final miles.

For those needing a little boost from one spot to another, sweep vans came to the rescue! Whether on foot or in a sweep van, walkers passed by Sloans Lake Park and Empower Field at Mile High Stadium before parading into the Finish Line Festival at the Tivoli Quad.

2025 Denver finish line

As they proudly stepped across the Mohawk Pink Carpet, walkers were celebrated by friends, family, crew, and Susan G. Komen for their tremendous accomplishment. As we anticipated the last walker, participants were able to take photos and get some swag before retrieving their victory shirt and Bank of America medal. We welcomed the last walker home before our spectacular crew lined the way toward the stage as courageous survivors and thrivers walked in, grounding us in why we walk.

It was then revealed that the over 600 crew members of over 610 walkers and crew of the 2025 Denver 3-Day raised a collective $1.3 million to support the fight against breast cancer. The funds raised will be used to invest in cutting-edge research that will lead to new, more effective treatments, work in communities across the country to ensure all people can access the care they need, and mobilize passionate supporters to make certain the voice of the breast cancer community is heard by policymakers.

2025 Denver 3-Day

A Preview of the Final Denver 3-Day Route

The 2025 Susan G. Komen Denver 3-Day® kicks off event season on Aug. 1, offering  mountain views and meaningful memories. As our final year in this vibrant region, it will be a bittersweet farewell to the Mile High City.

Day 1

We’ll begin bright and early with an inspiring Opening Ceremony at the Sheraton Denver Downtown, then hit the streets for a 20-mile journey through the heart of the city. Starting in the Central Business District, walkers will see the 40-foot-high Big Blue Bear peeking into the Convention Center and Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies. Cultural hot spots like the Fillmore Auditorium and the Denver Turnverein Dance Center, both beloved for their role in the city’s vibrant social scene, will also be on the route.

From there, walkers will go through City Park West, where the historic Smith Mansion & Carriage House offers a glimpse into Denver’s past. Just ahead, you’ll pass the Denver Zoo and the Museum of Nature & Science, before continuing through residential neighborhoods full of Denver’s everyday charm.

To wrap up the first 20 miles, walkers will stroll along tree-lined paths through James N. Manley Park and pass the stately Governor’s Residence at the Boettcher Mansion, which was built in 1908. Be sure to snap a photo in Civic Center Park, home to beautiful sculptures and the Pioneer Monument Fountain.

After a full exhilarating and exhausting day on your feet, you’ll return to camp for a well-deserved dinner. Be sure to relax in the massage chairs provided by Bank of America, and don’t miss our Celebration of Champions where we’ll honor top fundraisers and give away prizes!

Day 2

Day 2 will begin with a bus ride to Boulder, just 25 miles away and surrounded by more than 45,000 acres of protected land. This city is a leader in sustainability and natural beauty. Walkers will explore some of its most beloved landmarks.

The walk starts at East Boulder Park, a tranquil, green space that provides the perfect scenery for participants to ease into another long day. As you move along the route, you’ll make your way towards the 29th Street Shops, a lively area where you’ll find a mix of retail stores, cafes and local businesses. Keep an eye out for Growing Gardens, a non-profit urban farm that showcases Boulder’s commitment to sustainability and community agriculture. This beautiful space, filled with blooming flowers and fresh produce, is a perfect place to pause and take in the sights and scents of the garden.

When you reach the serene paths of Eben G. Fine Park, you’ll notice the landscape transitioning from urban to more natural surroundings. Located at the base of Boulder Canyon, this park is a gateway to outdoor adventures, offering access to trails, picnic areas and the soothing sounds and refreshing waters of Boulder Creek. As you continue toward the vibrant heart of Boulder, you’ll find yourself downtown and at the Pearl Street Mall, both of which are must-visits in this stunning city!

You’ll then pass the Dushanbe Teahouse, a unique and ornate building gifted to Boulder by its sister city in Tajikistan. Close by is the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, which offers a glimpse of the city’s thriving art scene. As your walk continues, you’ll go through the University of Colorado Boulder campus, where Mackey Auditorium and Old Main stand as testaments to the university’s long history and academic excellence. Day 2 of your 3-Day trek will end back at East Boulder Park where you’ll hop on the bus back to camp for the touching Honor Ceremony.

Day 3

Your day begins in downtown Denver, with the city’s skyline guiding your every step. You’ll pass through the RiNo (River North) Arts District, an eclectic neighborhood known for its thriving art scene, creative energy and unique blend of industrial history with modern culture. There will be plenty of inspiration as you power through your last day.

You’ll head toward the striking Denver Millennium Bridge, a piece of architecture that offers panoramic views of the city’s skyline. Just a short walk away, you’ll find the meeting point of the Platte River and Cherry Creek. It’s a tranquil oasis in the middle of the city, perfect for a brief reprieve to enjoy the natural beauty and recharge your body. Nearby, you’ll have the chance to see some outdoor exhibits at the Downtown Aquarium such as tigers, koi, river otters and various birds. Grab a snack at the Farmer’s Market at Highlands Square before continuing toward Sloan’s Lake, where The USS Grayling Memorial honors Denver’s military roots.

As you near the end of your 3-Day journey, you’ll pass by Gateway Plaza before exploring the Sports Walk at Mile High Stadium, a must-see for any sports fan. Then, at last, you’ll complete your incredible 60-mile adventure at the Finish Line Festival on Tivoli Quad with the Rockies rising behind you. Breathe in the fresh air and be proud that your momentous achievement has helped us move closer to a world without breast cancer. This is your moment, we hope you celebrate it!

Denver Awaits: Join Us for the Impactful 3-Day

Blush skies over the city of Denver which hosts the Susan G. Komen 3-Day(R)

This summer, the beautiful city of Denver will be the first stop in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day® series, and we want YOU to be a part of it. When you arrive on Aug. 1, you’ll be immersed in the Pink Bubble, a vibrant community well known for its spirit of hope, remembrance and celebration.

The 3-Day is an up to 60-mile journey where participants walk for themselves, for loved ones or for people they may not know but whose experience with breast cancer they want to honor.

While Denver can see temperatures in the summer reach the 90s, Nancy Partridge, a breast cancer survivor and advocacy ambassador for the Komen Center for Public Policy, says the Mile High City is the perfect backdrop for the 3-Day’s memorable experience.

“In Boulder it’s a real treat. It’s a quaint, quirky, little college town that is set up against the Flatirons, which is some of the most beautiful mountains that you will see up close and personal,” Nancy, who lived in the city for 20 years, explained. “Denver is shaded by high rises, and in Boulder, most of the route is shaded by trees. So, when you feel the sunshine on your face, it feels good.”

However, with Denver’s high altitude (5,280 feet above sea level), Nancy emphasized the importance of being prepared. “It’s important for walkers to stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol and eat foods high in potassium like avocado and cantaloupe.”

The Denver 3-Day isn’t just about the walk; it’s also about the impact. In 2024, 700 walkers and 220 crew members gathered in Denver and raised $2.3 million to support breast cancer research, education, advocacy and patient support services. Tracey Bahlo has participated in the 3-Day more than 20 times to honor her sister, a two-time breast cancer survivor, as well as others touched by breast cancer. She says it’s an incredible experience.

Tracey Bahlo has walked the Susan G. Komen 3-Day 22 times.

“It raises money for meaningful research and support, and provides hope,” Tracey said. “Every year at the San Diego 3-Day, there’s a woman with a sign that reads, ‘People like you saved me.’ That’s why I walk.”

Whether you’re a Colorado native or visiting for the first time, the 3-Day offers a new perspective on Denver. The route highlights some of the city’s most scenic spots—from Boulder’s hilly streets to iconic landmarks like Coors Field and the famous 40-foot blue bear at the convention center.

With warm weather likely in August, Tracey recommends some tips to stay cool: “Start walking early and wear a long sleeve, light weight shirt. The sun on your skin will be hotter. And don’t forget to wear an ice wrap around your neck!”

Since it began in 2003, the 3-Day series has welcomed more than 500,000 participants and raised more $915 million. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of this amazing journey. Visit the 3-Day today to register for Denver
